I like his repetition paintings, something banal is repeated, but the image evolves (e.g. changing the light).
Provocation, parody, and contradiction as an art form. To put something established on its head requires particular talent. It is not enough to make an opposite, it has to contain the reference to the original in some form as well. Sometimes the obsession “be the first” could take an unhealthy turn, but hey at least he enjoyed doing it.
Challenging the tradition usually defines a new tradition, so the eureka feeling is short, although it’s not the worst way to spend an afternoon.
